Copyright 1998-99, Ghostwriters/Radio Mall All rights reserved. Duplication prohibited.

You can get all 4300 songs for the same price, but if you prefer to create a custom playlist, use this software.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD the software, create a folder (directory) called "Hitpick" (C:\Hitpick).

When you download the HitPick software, be sure that all HitPick files download into this folder!

DESCRIPTION: Halland's HitPick software allows a broadcaster to create a custom music format which will be pre-loaded to hard drive. You may select from the POP and/or COUNTRY music databases. POP includes music for Oldies, 70's-Gold, Classic Rock, AC and CHR formats. COUNTRY is for Country formats.

After you have selected music using HitPick, return the HitPick floppy disc with the included Order Processing Form, License Agreement, and your payment. Incomplete orders will not be processed!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1. Use "My Computer" to show the contents of the Hitpick folder.

2. In the Hitpick folder, there should be 19 files. If there is only one file, "un-zip" the file.

3. Start the software by clicking on the HitPick file icon. (This is a batch file.)

4. The first screen asks for client information. Fill in each field, then press Enter.

5. The next screen presents 7 Options:

1. Select from POP music list. Select from POP music titles.

2. Select from COUNTRY music list. Select from COUNTRY music titles.

3. Review list of selected music. Displays "picks", POP then COUNTRY.

4. Print list of selected music. Prints list of selected music titles.

5. Print full POP music list. Prints complete POP database.

6. Print full COUNTRY music list. Prints complete COUNTRY database.

7. Exit. Exits software, compiles database of selected music titles.

To begin, select #1. You now have 2 ways to pick music titles:

1. Manual Pick. You can manually pick songs from the master title listing.

2. Quick Pick. You can automatically pick songs, according to YEAR(S) or ARTIST name.

Select #1, Manual Pick. Using this screen, you can manually pick titles from the master list. Just scroll through the list (using up and down arrow keys) and pick songs by pressing the spacebar. An "X" in the left column indicates a selected song. To un-select a song, press the spacebar again to remove the "X". When done, press ESC. (To pick songs from the Country list, press ESC two times, then select #2, then select #1 again.)

After you're done manually selecting music, press ESC to go back to the previous screen.

Now select #2, Quick Pick. The Quick Pick screen lets you specify TO and FROM years, as well as an ARTIST name. For example, to pick all songs between 1963 and 1969, enter "63" and "69"; leave the ARTIST field blank.

To pick all songs by the Beatles, leave the TO and FROM fields blank, and enter "Beatles" in the ARTIST field.

To pick Beatles songs between 1964 and 1968 only, enter "64", "68", and "Beatles" in the appropriate fields.

NOTE: The ARTIST name must be entered exactly as it appears in the main song listing.

After entering the YEARs and/or ARTIST name, press Enter. The song titles that match these parameters will be automatically picked.

You can see the "picks" by looking through the database in the Manual Pick screen. Press ESC twice, to get back to the first list of options, then select #1. Each picked title will be shown with an "X"; you can always manually add or delete titles to this list by highlighting a song title, then pressing the spacebar. Now press ESC again to get back to the previous screen.

Once you have selected some song titles, two more options become available. From the first option screen, press #1. Now there are these additional options:

#3 Quick Clear. This screen option works the same way as Quick Pick, but "in reverse". Instead of picking the songs that match your to/from years and/or artist, Quick Clear deletes songs that match these parameters. This can be used to delete a certain artist's songs, or remove songs within certain years.

Enter the YEARs and/or ARTIST information, then press Enter to delete the titles you've specified.

#4 Clear All: This option clears ALL songs picked from either the POP or COUNTRY listing.

If you select this option and press Enter, you'll clear all titles selected and have to start over!

When you're done selecting songs, you may see a list of the "picks" by selecting option #3. Note that the first screen(s) displays songs selected from the POP database. These are followed by songs selected from the COUNTRY database. The last screen for each (Pop and Country) shows the total number of songs selected, plus the total hard drive space required. You may select as many songs as you want from either or both listings.

To print a listing of songs you've selected, select Option #4.

To print the entire inventory of POP titles available, select Option #5.

To print the entire inventory of COUNTRY titles available, select Option #6.

When you're done selecting music, select Option #7 to EXIT the HITPICK program.

***IMPORTANT*** You must now copy the HitPick files from your hard drive to a floppy disc.

Put a blank floppy disc in the A drive. Use "My Computer" to show the contents of the Hitpick folder, and click on the icon that says DONE. This batch file will copy the HITPICK files from your hard drive back onto the floppy disc. Send the disc back to Halland for processing. Don't forget to send the Order Processing Form, License Agreement, and payment with your HitPick floppy disc!
